This fair trade necklace was made by artisans in Jalapao, Brazil. The material used is a sustainably-harvested golden grass. Necklace is sourced directly from artisans and producer-owned associations that decide on their prices and are in control of their production.

Golden grass is a pure vegetable material from a renewable source that grows naturally without use of pesticides or other toxic products. Golden Grass, as it is popularly known, is in fact a flowering plant, Syngonanthus nitens, native of a savanna-like region in central Brazil. The uniqueness of golden grass resides in its innate stunningly golden sheen. This natural shiny plant is a delicate and light weight fiber that can be woven in to shapes and objects.
