This fair trade trivet was made through Asha Handicrafts in India. ASHA, which means "hope" in Sanskrit, was started in 1975 and today is successfully marketing handcrafts for nearly 25 artisan cooperatives and family workshops irrespective of creed, representing 800 artisans. Asha is committed to the overall well-being of the artisans, working closely with them and their families to provide medical care, educational assistance for children, and to improve the living conditions of the artisans.
