The Recycled Glass Cooperative of Cantel (COPAVIC) was formed by the former employees of an Italian-run recycled glass factory in the village of Cantel, near Quetzaltenango in Guatemala. They created a workplace free of exploitation where the artisans benefit directly from their work. The COPAVIC cooperative is committed to protecting the environment and transforms recycled glass into beautiful hand-blown items. Glass from soda and beer bottles is melted down, tinted, and used to produce a variety of glass items, including this decanter.

Beautiful - and recycled!

This decanter is beautiful. Equivalent in quality to items I've bought at Crate and Barrel. I bought one for myself, as I've read a lot about recycled glass and its eco-friendliness recently, but being that I have about 4 weddings to attend this summer, I will surely be back to buy more as gifts. For $40, price cannot be beat.
