Zen Zen is an eco fair trade company that works with artisan groups in Indonesia - both with village cooperatives and their Balizen in-house workshop. Zen Zen uses environmentally sustainable materials for their fair trade products, including bamboo, vetiver, capiz shell and organic cotton.
Zen Zen is committed to fair trade - all of the artisans they work with receive a fair living wage and have good working conditions. Their employees also have health insurance, a pension plan and organized Friday afternoon sports. They believe fair trade means fair to everyone - from their most basic material suppliers/growers to the end retail users.
Zen Zen is committed to utilizing, sustaining, supporting, and promoting traditional, indigenous village handicrafts, so they can be enjoyed by this and future generations. Zen Zen trains their employees and outside suppliers to improve efficiency and sustainability as well as practice the 5 R's - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Refuse & Repair. Zen Zen supports and is involved in sustainable education, re-forestation, organic farming, community empowerment projects and contributes to the GreenSchool Bali scholarship fund. In addition, Zen Zen started the Zen Zen Forest Conservation Club in 2000, as a way to allow their customers in the US to help stop illegal logging in Bali and help create sustainable industries in needy areas.
