Womens Bean Project

Women's Bean Project strives to break the cycle of chronic unemployment and poverty by teaching job skills for entry-level jobs in gourmet food production business.

Women's Bean Project is a non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado, that teaches job readiness and life skills for entry-level jobs through employment in their gourmet food production business. Women come with the goal of transforming their lives and moving toward self sufficiency.

Women's Bean Project strives to break the cycle of chronic unemployment and poverty by helping women discover their talents and develop skills by offering job readiness training opportunities. With this stepping stone toward success, the women will be able to support themselves and their families, and create stronger role models for future generations.

Their goal is to provide each program participant with a safe, accepting work environment where she can learn to identify and build upon her talents while building the skills necessary to get and keep mainstream employment. Each participant begins her time at the Bean Project on the production line, where she focuses on the basic skills needed for employment such as coming to work on time and staying on task. In the second phase of employment, expectations increase to include individual goal setting and team leadership, and skills such as problem solving and effective communication.

Throughout the course of six months, the Women's Bean Project works with program participants to help them discover their capabilities and interests. As they approach the end of their training, participants will decide whether to further their education, access more training through another community nonprofit, or search for a new job.

Women's Bean Project's delicious products include: soup and chili mixes, cookie mixes, salsa mixes, spice rubs, and dip mixes.
