Fair Earth

Fair Earth works with artisan groups in Kenya and Uganda to produce designs that blend contemporary style with ethnic flair, and use sustainable local materials.

Fair Earth is a Chicago-based fair trade and earth-friendly company that produces and markets high quality fair trade products from East Africa. Fair Earth's designs blend contemporary style with ethnic flair, and all of the products are produced by local artisans with sustainable local materials. Fair Earth abides by Fair Trade principles by paying artisans a living wage and maintaining consistent relationships with them.

Kazuri Designs: Fair Earth works with Kazuri Designs, a fair trade organization in Kenya that makes beautiful and unique hand-crafted and hand-painted clay beads. Kazuri provides employment opportunities to several women in the Nairobi area, most of whom are single mothers who are in great need of regular employment.

Paper Craft: Fair Trade works with Paper Craft, a fair trade organization in Uganda that produces beautiful handmade paper using only natural raw materials such as banana fibers, pineapple tops, elephant grass and recycled paper. No chemicals are used in the process.

Paper Craft began in 2006 to provide a sustainable income for a group of socially disadvantaged Ugandans (mainly women), through the production and sale of handmade paper and paper products. The majority of the employees would otherwise find it almost impossible to find a job or to support their families. By choosing Paper Craft you are supporting a self-sufficient sustainable business, promoting environmental awareness and encouraging recycling.
