Co-op Image Group began as an artist’s apprenticeship for high school students in 2003 that aimed to organize Chicago-area artists and youth in order to build community and civic service through arts education. With over two years behind us it is evident that there is a significant community need for Co-op Image’s initiatives, and have found no shortage of artist volunteers excited to staff them. Cooperative Image Group has expanded itself to offer various platforms for area youth and artists.

Co-op Local Sauce is a a series of short run hot sauces usually mixed in 10 to 20 gallon batches utilizing all local product in unique recipes that are dictated by seasonal availability. Farmers are able to offload bulk product to Co-op Sauce at market value and we mix and match the batches to create individual flavors that bare the name of the farmer that labored to create the fresh ingredients. The great and sad thing is about these products is that once they are gone they are gone, there are far too many variables to be able to reproduce the exact product. We use a combination of preservation and manufacturing techniques with the Local Sauces but all posses a wonderful natural acidity from aged chillies from local growers.
